Penny Nichols, an historical researcher for film producers has just received an urgent call from her parents. It seems she has inherited some property from her Aunt Penelope, whom she is named after and Penny is required to get to London for the reading of the will.

Penny starts on an adventure of a lifetime. She is used doing research for other people, when it comes to researching her own family history, this is something entirely different. This research takes her to Italy, France and London. She learns her aunt had a secret life, which will change her relationship with Cousin Jeremy. Her status as heiress also brings about the vultures in her family tree. They donít want to share, they want everything for themselves, and they will stop at nothing to make sure they do get everything.

Penny and Jeremy have grown up together, they were always close. But now with the news Jeremy is not her blood cousin, they realize they can get even closer without any eyebrows raised. When Penny tells him he has relatives from his real father still living, he is not so sure he wants to meet them, he has feelings they abandoned him when he was little. Penny knows he must deal with this in order for them to make their own history.
