Kelly Redvers really did not want to buy the Magic Mermaid Inn. She wanted a more hip, chic place to invest. This place was old, a lot of work needed to be done to update it. She went against her better judgment and bought it. It did start to grow on her. The simplicity and laid back charm had a claming affect on a busy inn owner. Everyone like Kelly, especially two men who were at each end of the scale.
Eli Larson was a wealthy, handsome man who was engaged to another woman. He had been coming to the Inn since he was a small child. He will do anything to have Kelly commit to him, but first he needed to break off his engagement.
Nick McClure was the handyman for the Inn. He was strong, handsome, and somewhat mysterious. He was also an employee of Kellyís. He knew he didnít stand a chance with her, but he could not help to be attracted to her.
When events start happening to Kelly and to the Inn. She feels a little unsettled. She thinks it is someone close to the Inn. She suspects both Eli and Nick are doing these terrible things. When she learns about the Innís past, one of the female quests went missing and never heard from again, she wonders if she too will disappear.
The great gothic novel is back! It was joy to read this book. It had everything a gothic novel should have; romance, mystery, secrets, and the occasional bump in the night. I highly recommend this for the keeper shelf.
