Lady Clarissa Crambray knew what is to be whispered about and laughed at behind her back. After all there had been that nasty scandal she had been involved in when she was an adolescent. Trying to find Clarissa a suitable husband was not an easy task especially with on top of the gossip, Clarissa was blind as a bat without her spectacles. Lydia, Clarissa’s sour tempered stepmother had passed the edict that Clarissa was not to appear in public with the dratted spectacles even going to the extreme of breaking them! Because of her lack of eyesight Clarissa had been plagued with clumsiness leading to embarrassing incidents involving her suitors. Piffle and wig burning were just a few of Clarissa’s faux pas. Yet Lydia would not relent and let Clarissa have her spectacles back. So, Clarissa sat at another ball pining away for her lack of sight, and wishing for nothing but to go home. Suddenly a man appears who in Clarissa’s blurry vision looks like an angel from heaven as he sits and chats with her. He then sweeps her up for a waltz, telling Clarissa to close her eyes and follow his lead so she won’t stumble.
Lord Adrian Montfort, Earl of Mowbray knows what it is to be ostracized by the ton. Having returned from war horribly scarred on his once handsome face, Adrian has also been talked about behind his back and spurned by the eligible ladies in his pursuit to find a suitable countess. After the final blow to his ego years ago by a liaison that had turned out to be nothing but a demented lady’s infatuation with a “freak” Adrian had isolated himself at his country estate. His mother has convinced Adrian to try once again and is delighted at Adrian’s discovery of the chestnut haired beauty that has charmed her sullen son. Now to get past that battleaxe of a stepmother of hers in order to woo Clarissa and make her his! Love Is Blind to all but the fervor that burns in Adrian’s and Clarissa’s hearts!
To all who have found themselves outcast by the in-crowd this book is for you! Love Is Blind by popular romance author Lynsay Sands demonstrates that beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. Lady Clarissa is fabulous as the heroine who can accept her less then perfect hero because she herself isn't. Adrian is awe-inspiring in his attempts to reach the withdrawn Clarissa with his heartfelt gifts of reading to her, and aiding her in eating and drinking at social events, abilities that have been denied Clarissa in her blind state. Love is Blind is truly a keeper!
