When Tess woke to find Cameron Hawksmoor in her bed, she was furious. He was equally astonished as he thought he was in the guest room. But worse was to come. He had married Tess by proxy while he was very drunk. She wasn't informed of her marriage until her father told her.
I found this marriage by proxy storyline interesting. It must have been astonishing for Tess to discover she was a bride! Also they could not get the marriage annulled as they had spent the night together. During the regency period to obtain a divorce the woman had to commit adultery, as it had to be her fault!
Cameron and Tess found themselves in quite a predicament. How they try to solve it uncovers a dangerous plot that threatens the life of Cameronís young nephews.
I liked both the hero and heroine of His Unexpected Bride. They tried very hard to cope and deal with a difficult and rocky situation. And deal with it they did.
Jo Ann Ferguson invented some very good characters. I have read a few of her books and she obviously has a love of children as the ones she introduces to her stories are delightfully thought out characters that contribute a great deal to the plotline. The climax to this story was very exciting and when the villain was unmasked I was very surprised as it was not at all who I expected it to be.
This book is well worth reading.
