Chris has always worked for what sheís wanted; nothing was ever handed to her on a silver platter like it was for her sister Natalie. Of course, like any big sister, Chris was always getting Natalie out of one jam or another and cleaning up the mess she left behind.
This time it is a little more dangerous than ever. Chris is going to rescue Natalie from her drug lord husband, Jerome. All she had to do was sail her yacht to an island, Isladonata, that by that name doesnít exist. The yacht in question isnít in the best of shape as it had been docked for over twenty years. Chris had been working on the yacht, which is also her home, but would need lots of money to get her into the shape she would need in order to pull off this mission.
Chris gets the help for a friend, Gus, and of course with his background of being a former police officer, he recognized who Chris was going to snatch Natalie away from. It seems the DEA would be sending agents with her and on her boat. The agents would become her crew and hopefully make it to the island and rescue Natalie. Sound easy enough, right? Wrong.
From the beginning of the story, Chris seems to be having one accident after another. And at the moment with only two of the four DEA agents on her yacht that can only mean one thing. Which of these two men is causing them? Can she trust either one of them?
Chris is attracted to McLellan from the moment they meet. She knows the attraction will get them into trouble and it does the first time they kiss. Can she ignore the temptation long enough on the voyage to rescue Natalie or will she need a little rescuing of her own?
Dead Reckoning is a story that will have you turning the pages to find out what will happen next, whether is it danger surrounding Chris or the wonder of McLellan acting like a kid at something new he discovered. Ms. Moore gave the story enough curves and bumps to keep one guessing as to who is attempting to kill Chris and gave us an ending I didnít see coming. It will surely take you by surprise. If you like water and sailing with an adventure thrown in then pick up Dead Reckoning you wonít be disappointed.
