Lili Kavanaugh designs shoes. So why the heck has she just been attacked by a would-be kidnapper? Itís hard to imagine somebody hating platform shoes that much! The bodyguard Liliís father hires, canít figure it out either. Matt Hawkins, agreeing to take this case as his last job for this company, also canít figure out why heís having a very strong reaction to Lili Ė after all, heís been bodyguarding for years.

Yes, romance lovers, theirs is the major romance Ė and a wonderful one it is. Lili is very good at what she does, having her doctorate in design and lecturing to classrooms of attentive students (donít miss the scene of her using Matt as a visual aid!!). Matt himself is a complex man. His background, job and attitude combine to make him a fascinating puzzle that Lili canít wait to figure out. Sheíd like to also have him in her bed while she does it.

Rarely does a romance allow the heroine to be the sexual aggressor, but here it seems to be the case. Oh Matt wants Lili, all right, he just doesnít feel that itís professional to bed oneís client. Heís right, but Liliís determined!! The plot is also complex, and features a romance from the past, ripe with gangsters, their molls, and the baddest of the bad! Shoes are vitally important. Thank heavens for a book that finally acknowledges that fact!

This is a great story, a wonderful romance, and a lovely way to entertain yourself over some long summer afternoons. Donít expect to finish it in a couple of hours Ė youíll want to savor every word!
