Itís the 1970ís era of free love and liberalism on the shores of the American homeland. In Vietnam a fierce war rages with no end in sight. Alaina Abbott, an inquisitive female journalist, goes to South Vietnam with one aim Ė to report the truth. Used to being in a manís world, Alaina is unfazed by the extremely male dominated world. Until she is assigned to Colonel Robert E. Lee Blackhart.

Blackhart is a legendary aviator, but also a terrible ladies man. His devotion is to his job; the thorns in his side are the liberal journalists out to constantly berate his men. Yet his attraction to Alaina is undeniable.

Together they must search through the lies and deceit to understand what is happening inside the Red Phoenix unit. Blackhart never expected to fall in love, and especially not with a liberal journalist. As they get closer to the truth, the passion mounts and neither Blackhart or Alaina can deny their feelings any longer.

But tragedy strikes, and Alaina must fight alone to uncover the truth and prove that love really can conquer all.

Red Phoenix Rising is one of this readerís favorite e-books of the moment. Marie Carroll tackles an era, and a war, that is not widely represented in the romance genre. The book has a beautifully flowing narrative and intriguing characters. The banter between Blackhart and Alaina in the first half of the book only leads to sexual tension that eventually sizzles off the page! Watching the love blossom between them, despite the controversial war, had me smiling and sobbing right up until the last page.

Poignant, thought provoking, elegantly written - Red Phoenix Rising is a stunning break out novel, one that will leave you reading late into the night and wishing for more!
