Emma Garrett is the owner of Hill House, a charming boardinghouse in Candlewood, New York. There are people there which call it home, others which come to visit. Emma is happy, comfortable being the person she is. When a knock on the door in the middle of a rain storm reveals a woman, Emma has a feeling she is about to be in the middle of a family feud.
Emma also has another problem to worry about. Through her attorney, she has learned she may not be the legal owner of Hill House. There is apparently an heir to the boardinghouse who could force Emma out in the street. Emma has a strong faith that God will see her through this, she decides to go on with her life as normal as possible until such time the heir will come forward. She realizes she will have to be above board and not to cause any gossip about herself, which will not be easy.
We meet all kinds of people which cross the doorstep of Hill House. There are the twin sisters, they are eccentric, fun loving. The retired minister who still has words of wisdom to pass along to anyone who needs them. Families which come every year for a few days and many others.
A wonderful new series by a gifted author. Delia Parr has written in the general historical fiction genre, she has taken the leap of faith and is writing inspirational fiction. She has done an outstanding job.
