Lucia Valenti; illegitimate daughter to Prince Cesare of Bolgheri, has been confined to schools and convents most of her life. Now that Cesare has decided to formally acknowledge her as his daughter, living in the palace is just as bad as living in a prison. While living at the convents, she was able to sneak away for little adventures and some romance; so what if that little adventure turned to scandal, but living under Cesare's rule is stifiling her to death. After getting caught sneaking out of the palace, her father decides that enough is enough and he wants her married off, post haste!
Enter Sir Ian Moore, Britian's most proper diplomat. Ian had arranged for the marriage of Cesare's other daughter and so trusts Ian's judgement in all things. But Ian doesn't see it that way. Diplomacy, not matchmaking, is Ian's forte, but he is determined to marry her off as soon as possible so that he can return to more important duties, like the joining of countries for world peace.
Despite an abundance of eager and suitable candidates, none match Lucia's fire and spirit for life. Will Ian ever find a man worthy of her, or will he find out that the only man who cam handle Lucia is himself? What will Prince Cesare think?
This is a fun, sweet romance with a lot of humor and passion. Lucia is a fiesty Italian who knows what she wants out of life and doesn't let anything stand in her way. Ian is more like a stuffed shirt, so proper and perfect that he fairly sqeaks. Nothing ever ruffles his feathers, but Lucia finally breaks down his barriers and teaches him to live life and have fun.
