We met Cassandra in Crescent Moon. Now she has her own story, Midnight Moon. Cassandra is a white voodoo priestess, living in New Orleans and owns a shop there as well. Now Cassandra is part of the Jager-Sachers and her first assignment is to go to Haiti.

She is to locate a man named Jacques Mezareau. He is rumored to be able to raise the dead and that is just want she wants to do. Well, that is her assignment but she has a personal motive as well. Now the problem is finding someone in Haiti to take her into the jungle.

Devon is the man for the job to take her to the jungle or so he says. It seems he has some nasty people after him and what better way to avoid them for a while then to take someone into a jungle where no one else will go.

It will take Cassandraís magic and Devonís determination and a motive of his own to find the village where Jacques Mezareau lives. But can the two of them move past their own fears to get out of the village alive? What happens once Cassandra is shown how to perform the ritual? Can she do it on her own and just what happens to her during the ritual that changes her?

We learn a lot more about Cassandra during the story about who she is and why she is the way she is. Why she will go to any length to find Jacques and how to perform the ritual. She must somehow deal with her past and forgive herself before she can move on.

Devon isnít your everyday run of the mill helpful guide either. He has secrets of his own and definitely an agenda of his own. But just how will Cassandra fit into it once she goes back to New Orleans?

Life back in New Orleans isnít all peachy once Cassandra is back. It seems there is something wrong with her pet snake. And a new spree of murders is happening. Just how does all this tie into the ritual that Cassandra performed in Haiti?

This story has zombies and a new creature that we havenít seen before. Even though this story deals with trying to find the cure for the curse from Crescent Moon, it deals with a lot more personal problems faced by one of the Jager-Sachers, Cassandra. Midnight Moon is another winner in the ongoing Nightcreature series by Lori Handeland.
