Claire Everett’s writing career seems to have come to a screeching halt even as everything else in her life seems to be perfect. She’s finally connecting with her four kids, she’s getting along great with her ex-husband’s pregnant wife, she’s on track with God, and she has a wonderful boyfriend, Greg.
But everything turns upside down quickly. A tornado uproots a tree which crushes the upper level of Claire’s house. Her daughter is sneaking out late at night on dates with college boys. And Greg has announced his calling to the ministry, even as Claire stops attending church regularly.
Claire is not cut out to be a pastor’s wife, so she ends the relationship. But then panic attacks start, and in desperation, Claire hires a life coach. Will Claire be able to salvage her family, her home, and her relationships with both God and Greg?
Claire Knows Best is the second book in the Claire Everett series, and readers will want to read the first book in the series Leave it to Claire first as the stories tie together. I enjoyed reconnecting with Claire and going through this next stage in her life with her.
Claire Knows Best is expertly written and held my attention to the end. The faith message is expertly woven in, and is not intrusive. I couldn’t understand exactly what the need for a life coach was as Claire seems a pretty level-headed character, and it didn’t really add much to the story line. Other than that, I enjoyed Claire Knows Best and am anxiously awaiting the third book in the series, I Love Claire, coming soon. Discussion questions are included at the end of the book.
