Calamity follows Sophie Katz around like a well trained puppy. However, Sophie is not the one in trouble this time. Leah, Sophie’s Martha Stewart wanna-be sister, thinks her husband, Bob, is seeing another woman. To help find proof of his philandering Sophie tries to hire P.I. Anatoly Darinsky. But since Anatoly was nearly framed for murder by Sophie and then shot while attempting to save her life, he is wary of having anything to do with the half-black, half-Jewish mystery writer.
When Bob is murdered in their home Leah becomes the prime suspect in the investigation. Sophie has no intention of letting her sister go to prison (especially if she would have to be her demonic nephew Jack’s sole guardian.) She begins an investigation into her brother-in-law’s life and turns up some surprising details. He was even more of a rat bastard than they knew and the list of people who could want him dead is growing. The only problem is the police won’t take them seriously. With or without her sexy P.I.’s help Sophie intends to prove her sister innocent and find a killer.
Oy vey! Passion, Betrayal and Killer Highlights rocks! If you are afraid to laugh out loud in public this book is not for you. Smart, sassy, attention grabbing and full of memorable, lovable characters. I loved it. As the second book in the Sophie Katz series, Passion, Betrayal and Killer Highlights picks up where Sex, Murder, and a Double Latte left off. I really hope there will be more books in this series because all of the characters compliment each other so well I have to know what happens next.
