Marianne Stillings made her writing debut with her title The Damsel in This Dress. In this previous title, we briefly met Claire Hunter and Taylor McKennitt. In her newest title, Sighs Matter, Claire and Taylor finally get their story and their happy ever after.

As the story opens, unbeknownst to her, Claire is a stalking victim. Taylor, aware that all is not as it seems in Claire’s life, is watching her, and trying to protect her without making her fully aware of the potential danger surrounding her and her Aunt Sadie. However as the danger escalates Taylor might be forced to make Claire more aware.

Claire and her Aunt Sadie think they are capable of taking care of themselves. As the danger escalates and others become involved Claire realizes that she might have to rely on Taylor more than she would like.

There are reasons behind Claire’s reluctance to get involved in any way with Taylor, but in the end, she realizes that life has no guarantees to a happy end, and a life spent with Taylor for any length of time is better than a life spent without him. The chemistry between Claire and Taylor was quite believable, and I was glad when Claire decided to let her hang ups down and go for a life with Taylor.

Sighs Matter was a bit of a slow mover for me. I would say that I was about halfway through the book before I felt like I had to keep turning pages to find out what happened. I firmly believe that my lack of interest prior to this was because I had not read her book The Damsel in This Dress, and did not have the background as to how and when Taylor and Claire met.

Overall, I would recommend Sighs Matter, but would strongly suggest being sure; you have read The Damsel in This Dress first. Ms. Stillings is a writer to watch as she does write with a nice blending of humor and easy to read suspense.
