When you read about Mel Gibson, you are expecting to read about the movie star, and dream about being the heroine to his hero. In Jacquie D’Alessandro’s reissued title you’re bound to be a bit disappointed to find out that Mel Gibson is in reality Melanie Gibson, entrepreneur.
There the disappointment will end as you are caught up in the book, Kiss the Cook. Mel, as she is known to her friends, is the owner of Pampered Palate-Gourmet Food To Go and is driven to get her fledgling business off the ground. She is totally focused on achieving that goal, and not looking for love, or even a fling.
Christopher Bishop is at the pinnacle of success. He has worked hard, and finally achieved the status of being a partner in the accounting firm for which he works. He is not looking for a long-term relationship either, but wants to give being a playboy a fair chance of succeeding.
Ms. D’Alessandro has taken her ingredients...a beautiful, delightful heroine whom while career driven has a heart of gold, and a hero who really is a family man behind his glitzy façade...mixed them just right, and put them in a book at just the right temperature. What she has come out with is a story that will not singe your fingers, but bring a nice glow to your face as you read.
Ms. D’Alessandro’s characters are likable, and hip. Kiss the Cook was originally written in 2000 so even though the story is a few years old, it is not old enough to be dated, and will tickle most reader’s funny bones.
