Vampire Reinn Mackenzie is Guardian of the Blood and as such it is his duty to terminate any Mackenzie vampire that has mated with a demon or were-creature. Although Reinn hates his job he’s come to the Woo Woo Inn, posing as Daniel Night, to carry out clan justice on a vampire and his were-cat bride. But Reinn’s mistrust of were-creatures doesn’t stop him from being attracted to Kisa Evans a were-cat and the bride’s sister. An attraction that may get in the way of him fulfilling his duties since Kisa won’t be pleased when she finds out who Reinn is or that he’s lied to her.

Kisa Evans is at the Woo Woo Inn to help her sister plan her wedding to a vampire and it is there that she meets the intriguing Daniel Night. Unfortunately for Kisa she can only have a fling with the scrumptious human because she can’t mate with anyone weaker then herself and has yet to find someone stronger. Kisa senses that Daniel has secrets but it doesn’t bother her because she has some of her own. Even the fact that someone appears to want to cause her harm doesn’t seem to faze Daniel and only seems to strengthen their attraction.

A Taste of Darkness is charming and fun. Readers will have a hard time putting this novel down due to all the interesting characters. Kisa’s ability to change into a saber-tooth tiger is awesome and following the story to discover what happens between Reinn and Kisa will have readers finishing the book in one go. Nina Bangs has a wonderful imagination that never fails to captivate readers with the fantastic world’s she creates or with her equally fantastic characters. I recommend readers to give A Taste of Darkness a try.
