Leah Barringer has called the Alaskan Territory her home for the last ten years. She and her brother, Jacob, have learned to survive and love this rugged country. All the locals love both of them dearly. Leah with the help of her brother run a store, they usually get paid by the locals with items, rather than money, but they donít mind, they know money is hard to come by in this small town. Jacob also trains dogs for sleds. When Jacob informs Leah he is joining an arctic expedition, Leah wants more than what she has had for the last decade.

Jayce Kincaid was the man in Leahís life, he spurned her love, he told her she was too young to know what love was. He has re-entered her life and she does not want anything to do with him. He still treats her like a young woman, even though she is ten years older. Jayce sets out to prove to Leah he is a changed man, he realizes now what he did to her, and he is trying to make her see they both have the strong feelings for each other that they did ten years ago. But when a young woman enters the picture, Leah starts having doubts about Jayce and any future they could have.

Helaina Beecham is an investigator, she believes Jayce is the man responsible for several deaths and thefts. She has gone undercover to capture and bring him to justice. She uses the arctic expedition as her cover. Will the appearance of Helaina stop Leah and Jayce from having a life together?

This is a wonderful new series by a gifted author. You cannot go wrong with a book written by Tracie Peterson. The setting of the series is in beautiful Alaska, before it became a state. It takes a strong person to survive the rugged, cold of Alaska. Leah, Jacob, and Jayce are all strong, likable characters.
