One of Lisa Jacksonís most popular and beloved characters, detective Reuben Montoya finally gets a starring role in Shiver, Ms Jacksonís latest release.

The book finds detective Montoya heading up a murder investigation involving the deaths of local talk radio personality, Luke Gierman and a young college coed. At first glance the deaths appear to be a murder-suicide but the strange circumstances surrounding the crime scene soon lead Montoya to believe that he has a homicide on his hands.

Abby Chastain is Giermanís ex and she certainly has reasons to want him dead. The ex is always a front running suspect in this type of case and Montoya wastes no time in following this lead. However as another couple is found dead Montoya begins to suspect that he may indeed have a serial killer on his hands. Stranger still is the fact that the victims also seem to have a link to Abby. Is she the killer after all or is someone setting her up?

Jackson is a master at holding her readers in suspense and does a superb job in Shiver. As the story unfolds readers are forced to try and figure out each twist and turn. Abby and Reuben are both strong characters that the reader will come to care about. Another plus for Jackson is her ability to create truly creepy villains that will have the reader jumping at every sound and reading this one with the lights on.

Shiver is another superbly crafted tale by one of the best in the business. Shiver is Lisa Jackson at her absolute best. Well worth the hard cover price.
