NASCAR fans, start your engines!

The Daytona 500 is only a few weeks away, and we have a romance just for you! Harlequin has received permission from NASCAR to promote a series of race-themed romances with their logo. Author Pamela Britton leads the pack with a novel worthy of the checkered flag.

In the Groove pairs racing star Lance Cooper with an unlikely young woman. Sarah Tingle knows nothing about racing. Nothing that is until she takes a job as motor coach driver to the charismatic racer. Sarah has had a major setback in her teaching career and falls back on the profession that put her through college. Traveling from track to track will give her plenty of time to decide what she is going to do next. As for her boss, she has no idea who he is, or even what he looks like!

As Sarah learns about racing, she is inexplicably drawn to Lance. After her recent issues with men, starting a new relationship should be the last thing on her mind. Lance is very charming, though, and not at all like what she expected. His racing team is like a family, and it is easy to get caught up in it all.

As a lifelong racing fan, I enjoyed this novel very much. The characters were believable and immediately won me over. (I don’t understand people who don’t “get” NASCAR, but I know they are out there!) The story had just enough conflict, on and off the track, to hold my interest. I would have preferred a little more sensuality, but understand that the publisher is going for a wide readership that may include teens. Luckily, I have a good imagination.

If you like NASCAR, you will definitely enjoy this book. If you like romance, the same holds true. It is a win-win story from beginning to end.
