Sam is still feeling fragile after discovering her boyfriend Hamal was cheating on her. She turns to her best friend Dylan as a shoulder to cry on but no way will give in to the feelings of desire she is starting to feel for Dylan after all he is white and she is determined not to follow her sister's example by getting involved with a white man as that turned out to be a disaster.

This is a fun story really very much in the chick lit vein. Lots of humorous incidents and Sam struggling to sort out her love life.

Sam is a delightful character, though she can be a bit unfortunate. As a science teacher she does has a habit of blowing things, like the science lab, up! He school principal finds her a hindrance rather than an asset but she is a very enthusiastic teacher.

Dylan is a high school drop out but is a very good carpenter and though he is Sam's best friend he feels inferior to her as she has a degree and loves studying. He joins a night class without telling her.

Dylan is often her rescuer when Sam starts dating again and ends up with some oddball types.

This story is well written and a good light read. The plot might be a little thin but the humour and the depth of the characters made up for this. It is a book to enjoy in a light hearted fashion.

Sam is a character that will grab the reader immediately as women can easily sympathise with her and understand her doubts where Dylan is concerned.
