Kaylee Carter’s life is changed forever when she sees the story of a lottery winner in McIntosh, Ohio. Suddenly, doubts that have plagued Kaylee’s mind all her life about her parentage come rushing back full force, and she starts to wonder: could she be Constanzia, the daughter Sofia Donatelli gave up for adoption twenty-five years ago? Constanzia is Kaylee’s middle name, but perhaps there is even more Kaylee shares with Sofia?

Moving to Ohio brings new challenges and new faces into Kaylee’s life. She needs some answers, and McIntosh, and Sofia Donatelli, may just be the clues necessary to figure out what is going on. Kaylee’s father won’t tell her anything, so she is forced to go to a person who may know more. Unfortunately, Sofia’s stepson Tony will do anything to get Kaylee out of Sofia’s life, despite his overwhelming attraction to her. Tony doesn’t trust Kaylee’s motives for coming to McIntosh, and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect his stepmother from fortune hunters and people looking to get rich quick. But will Tony’s protection cost him the woman he is starting to fall in love with?

Million to One is the journey of a lifetime for Kaylee. Her reasoning for moving to McIntosh may seem a bit too much at first, but as you read, you’ll come to enjoy her quest for answers. Kaylee is a sweet and gentle woman, a strong counterpart for Tony’s more cynical and hardened nature. They balance each other well, in spite of the obstacles stacked against them. Equally inspiring to read about is Sofia’s search for her little girl, along with her own promising romance.

This is a book that focuses on the characters and the emotions they face as life throws new challenges and changes their way. Darlene Gardner has penned another heart wrenching story of love and life that is sure to find a place in your heart and on your bookshelf.
