Riley Goldheart uses her savings and scrimps and borrows to buy the abandoned plantation home once owned by the prosperous Tucker Family. She knows the house holds a lot of history, but she doesn't realize it also still holds one of its previous occupants.
The ghost of Gilmore Tucker, whom historians depict as a wife-murdering scoundrel, still wanders the grounds after almost two hundred years. When a Tucker descendant appears, Riley learns a bit more about the history of the Tucker family. The gorgeous doctor, Gil Baker arrives too late to buy the house, he is a descendant of Gilmore Tucker and his true love, Paradise who’d been a black female slave. He wants to set right the wrongs of the past... and help Gilmore Tucker find peace and for Riley, he just might offer something more -- a future with them together.
Ms. Bardsley’s stories always manage to keep me riveted. My only wish was that this story had been longer. I loved all the characters, starting with Gilmore to Paradise to Gil and Riley.
