Roxana Winston needs to find herself a rich husband, so she's packed herself off to a Chirstmas house party with a smile and a plan to snare the richest man she can find. Little does she know, but she's about to meet a man who can't be so easily fooled and who will try everything he can to foil her reprehensible scheme to snare some oblivious fool into marriage.

Maximillian St. Claire, the Duke of Trent is no stranger to privilege. When he becomes aware of the lovely Miss. Winstons's schemes with some kind of amusement, he soon realizes that he can't allow her to go trhough with her plan to snare a rich husband. As he gets more and more involded in Roxana's plan, he soon becomes to infatuated with her, that he even considers compromising her himself, that is until he discovers the true reason for her actions. Can he risk everything and fall in love with her?

This was a fun, fast read. Roxana and Max are wonderful characters and develop into a hero and heroine that a reader can fall in love with. The secondary characters lend a lot to the story in that if they were not there, the storyline would fall totally flat.

Karen L King seems to get better with each book that she writes. A Midnight Clear is definately a story that you will want to add to your Christmas romance collection.
