In her newest novel, Fascination Samantha Hunter introduces us to Ian Chandler and Sage Matthews. Ian is a soon-to-be-ex federal agent, and Sage is his last case to wrap up before he begins his new position with the Norfolk Police Department. Ianís position in the department will be to establish a team that will work to prevent internet hacking.

Sage was arrested five years ago for computer hacking. She never professed her innocence though she wasnít really at fault. Yes, she released the virus that got her arrested, but she was tricked into doing so. She never intended for any of the viruses she wrote for fun to actually be released.

Ian has had complete control of Sageís life for the last five years, and with the end of her sentencing just days away she is taking small steps to get her life back under her control. Her plans may fall apart when she is contacted by the man who tricked her all those years ago. Locke had been hiding low, and now with Sageís sentencing almost at an end, he has contacted her again.

Will Sage be truthful and tell Ian about the contact, or will Ian have to find out for himself? Sage has used playful flirtation over the years with Ian to no avail, but now that Ian has accidentally seen Sage pick up a drop that Locke left he turns that flirtation around on her. Readers had better be careful at this point as their fingers might start to burn, and theyíll want to stay glued to the pages to find out what happens.

Sage wants to meet and take Locke down alone. She feels this is the only way sheíll truly be able to be free of him, and also prove to Ian that she truly was innocent five years prior. Ian doesnít agree with this plan, and in fact wants to arrest Sage for sentencing violations. Instead they come up with a new plan, and we get to meet the rest of Ianís new team, E.J. and Sarah.

Fascination is a story of learning to let go of the past and in doing so being able to love again. As I read I believe that Ian and Sage will not only lead a happy life together, but also have a positive influence on E.J. and Sarah to learn to love again as well. Fascination is the first book in a trilogy, and Iím hopeful that in the next books we will get stories about E.J. and Sarah.
