The lies continued to mount every time Faith opened her mouth, but she was determined that nothing would stand in the way of her “family’s” new start in Fredonia. Her dream of running a greenhouse/herbalist shop was now a reality, despite the hardships Faith and her “aunts” had suffered to acquire it. When Adam, Faith’s teenaged brother, gets into trouble, and is brought home by the handsome sheriff, Faith is lost with just one look at Duke Grayson. This tall, dark, striking man wants to court Faith, and has been nothing but kind to her and her oddball family. However if Faith follows her heart and allows the Sheriff to get close, she knows her secrets will come out and she must protect them at all cost!

Sheriff Duke Grayson is up for re-election, and what better way to show the people of Fredonia he is their only choice to remain in the sheriff’s office if he were to uncover the secrets behind this strange group of women running the newly opened greenhouse in the old gristmill. Duke’s plans quickly fall to the wayside when he becomes infatuated with Faith. Duke having benefited from the therapeutic massages and herbal balms that healer Faith administers his injured shoulder begins a courtship with the supposed widow, hoping to ultimately make her his wife. Could a man of such fierce principles and sworn to uphold the law like Duke Grayson, understand the choices that Faith had to make in order to keep her family together?

Kissing in the Dark is the fourth in RITA award-winning author Wendy Lindstrom’s Grayson brothers’ series, and I think she has saved the best for last! Hunky second to youngest brother Duke has finally found a bride, and his choice of puzzling herbalist Faith Wilkins puts him at odds with his older brother Radford and compromises his position as town sheriff. Marrying Faith means taking on her extended family of her bawdy aunts, her wayward younger brother and her precocious daughter, Cora. Despite everything, Duke’s heart is set on making Faith his, but when her deceitful lies become known, it is the test of love that brings these two out of the dark and into the light! Kissing in the Dark gets a little convoluted at the climax when everything happens at once and it becomes hard to keep track of who is who and what is what, but the overall love story between Duke and Faith is a true blending of romantic odds beat all.
