Mary Luce has had a hard life and is in no way surprised when she finds out that her life is once again about to travel a rough path. What does surprise her is her introduction into the world of the supernatural and the mutual attraction between herself and the vampire Rhage. After her connection to vampires becomes known to their enemies it becomes necessary for Mary to take refuge with Rhage. During which their relationship deepens and becomes serious but leading to heartbreak when it becomes apparent that Mary’s time is drawing near.

Rhage has led an empty life after he was cursed by the Scribe Virgin but his existence is made brighter when he becomes acquainted to Mary Luce. Mary evokes emotions in him that he’s never experienced before and seems to be the only one that can tame Rhage’s wilder side. Rhage’s love for Mary has him ready to take on any who may think of separating him from her even his brethren and makes him desperate to find a way to extend his time with Mary.

Lover Eternal is captivating from cover to cover. Rhage’s loneliness and the struggles that Mary’s faced will touch readers with their strength of will and the fortitude they show in the face of adversity. It was my first time reading a novel by J.R. Ward but it won’t be my last, she has gained a loyal reader in me and I can’t wait to read more of her spellbinding work. J.R. Ward has created a series that will enthrall readers with the realism of her characters and of the world she’s created.
