Anita Blake must make a last minute trip to Philadelphia to take the place of a friend, when he is faced with a crisis. Anita must go to Philadelphia to raise a man from the dead in order for him to testify for the Feds on record. But when she gets there, not only does she face some trouble stirred up by someone she’s worked with in the past, but she must also face the nerve racking prospect of alone-time with only one of her boyfriends. Anita learns more about her boyfriend Micah, who also rules their pard of leopards at her side, Anita learns of the ghost's that haunt him and of what he needs. Anita must face the challenges both within herself and those without, if she is to find her way to a more stable and happy existence.
Micah in no way disappoints Laurell K. Hamilton fans. It is fantastic and provides further depth to her characters. But that is not to say that Micah is only for those that are already fans of the series, because it would make a wonderful introduction to the series. Micah provides a glimpse of Anita Blake, a kick butt heroine that will ruthlessly do what she must to protect those she loves but who is also vulnerable. Laurell K. Hamilton has done a wonderful job giving more life to Micah and to deepening the relationship between Micah and Anita. I greatly look forward to reading the next installment in the Anita Blake series.
