Playing Easy to Get is an anthology with novellas by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Jaid Black and Kresley Cole.
What can you give a woman who has nothing? Well, that’s easy – a “rigged” contest entry and an all-expenses paid trip to an island starring as the heroine in her favorite romance novel!!! However things don’t go as planned for Allison. Oh, she’s the heroine but instead of falling for the “hero”, she falls for the one man on the island she shouldn’t! Vince is on the run and hiding out on the island, acting as a troubleshooter. He falls in lust as soon the moment he sees her but he’s not the type of man that “wholesome” Allison needs – but is he the one she wants???? Turn Up the Heat by Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of the best stories I’ve read in a while! It’s got adventure, sex, bad guys, good guys and a terrific hero and heroine! I love a woman who can stand up for herself when the situation calls for it!
Sofia Rowley is devastated after an unforeseen tragedy befalls her younger brother. Alone exhausted and in a daze in the back seat of a cab, she’s kidnapped. Now who would want her?? Where is the kidnapper taking her?? What’s going to happen to her?? Lord Johen Stefsson is a noble who lives in the Viking world Underground. His parents are pestering him again to get married and start his own family. There will be a Bride auction soon and maybe he’ll do some shopping for an Underground woman vs. an Outsider woman. Outsider women are too much trouble, or so he thinks….until he sees Sofia! He bids on her, wins her…and then has to explain to her that they are married and she will always be his. Can there be a happily-ever-after for this couple? Hunter’s Oath by Jaid Black has a wonderful hero, who is very Alpha and yet he’s so tender with Sofia when she needs him the most!
The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole is the story of Myst the Coveted, an immortal Valkyrie and Nikolai Wroth, a Vampire general. Their kind, Valkyrie and Vampire, have been enemies throughout time and yet there is something between these two but it takes 5 years for them to get together again!! Once they do get together, lightening strikes and sparks fly! However I had a problem with this story on several fronts. Myst was prone to using her sensuality to tease men and Wroth started out terrific…..until he meets up with the heroine again and took away her “free will”, purely by accident but he takes advantage of it! These two people acted like anything but a hero and heroine. I do feel the author has a wonderful storyline but I just couldn’t get past the behavior of these people – there was nothing “heroic” or admirable or even likeable about either of them!
Playing Easy to Get is a terrific anthology, with one exception, that’s wonderfully written and features some hot heroes and their feisty lady-loves!
