In a highly charged suspense, Ms. Neri’s Double Play is a page turner of the best kind.

Elizabeth Harper fakes her death and runs away from her abusive husband. Detective Jack McQuinn knows Elizabeth as “Lulu”, an online acquaintance. When she disappears and is presumed dead, Jack isn’t quite convinced. Months later, he’s discovered the truth and the truth puts Elizabeth’s life in more danger than before.

After reading online that her ex husband Richard is dead, Elizabeth thinks she’s finally safe and free. But Jack knows Richard’s death was a fake too, to draw Elizabeth out of hiding. On the run with her, Jack and Elizabeth now have to stay one step ahead of Richard’s deadly intent to kill them both.

Very well written, intensely suspenseful, and highly emotional, this is a book not to be missed. Ms. Neri pens in the beautiful atmosphere of Hawaii, and brings the characters to life by embellishing them in a real life experience that most likely happens a lot in today’s society. This is a book somewhat reminiscent of the movie “Sleeping With the Enemy”, but far better.
