Returning to author Melanie Jackson’s intriguing series “Wildside”, this is book number five, and takes place in the Christmas season. Part human, part goblin, part fey, heroine Zee Finvarra is on the run with her two younger siblings. Hobgloblin Qasim has come up with a plan to free his peers from bondage by sacrificing hundreds of children by New Years Day, and Zee is desperate to protect her siblings at all cost.

When ER doctor Nicolas Anthony is stranded in his mountain cabin with Zee and the siblings, Nic’s first thought is that Christmas really is a bummer --- in more ways than one.

Ahh, but Fate has some wonderful plans in store for Zee and Nic, despite dastardly Qasin’s horrific plan. The attraction between them is instantaneous and undeniable. Nic doesn’t believe in a fantasy world and finding out that Lutins exist is just the first of a long list of discoveries that will turn his whole world upside down.

Filled with captivating characters, non stop action, a fantasy world that is so real it’s scary, and a love story that twines itself among all the danger and intrigue, this is a great addition to Ms. Jackson’s “Wildside” series, and is not to be missed. Because of a lot of back story history, readers are encouraged to read the previous books, or at least the fourth book Still Life in order to better grasp the complexity of this fantasy world.
