In Fateful Fieldtrip, by Emma Bruce, two Virgos find each other rather quickly. While playing substitute teacher and taking his class to the museum, Coach Tim Mitchell meets the museum curator Suzanne Tate. There is instant spark between them, and they agree to meet again that same night. Their relationship is instantly consummated. Afterwards, Tim panics at the unsure feelings he has for Suzanne and leaves quickly. Suzanne is left feeling confused and hurt. Two months later, they meet again, at the school where Suzanne is giving a lecture. They finally admit their fears and feelings for each other and realize they’re meant to be together. Slow, and predictable.
Keira Ramsay’s Blink of an Eye, has war hero Scott Carnes returning home after being permanently injured and discharged from the Air Force. He meets coffee shop owner Cassidy Thompson on a stormy night and they end up spend the night together. Cassidy is somewhat older than Scott and has reservations about starting any kind of relationship with him. Scott, on the other hand, doesn’t care about the age difference and is determined not to let Cassidy out of his life. A tornado catastrophe brings them together in saving lives and they realize they’re in love. The emotional scars both hero and heroine carried helped make this a good story.
