Reagan Hurley is a woman caught between a rock and hard place. A firefighter who has been sidelined by her asthma; Reagan needs a doctor to sign her release to return to work. When she hears about Dr. Jack Montoya, a doctor working in a clinic for the poor, Reagan hopes he will be sympathetic to her case. Unfortunately, Jack is not what Reagan expected besides being wise to what she wants; Jack is also sexy, and a little bit intriguing. Jack is also attracted to Reagan, but just as things begin to heat up between the two of them Jack is accused of being involved in an arson scam. Reagan knows that Jack is innocent but can not prove it. Together Jack and Reagan must confront those who think they are guilty and discover whether or not their love can survive.

Fade the Heat by Colleen Thompson was an unexpected pleasure to read! Having never read anything by this author before I was unsure what to expect, however I was more than pleasantly surprised by this book. What a wild and completely enchanting read! Reagan is a strong and capable woman who faces many awful challenges during the course of this book. Jack is a caring and capable man who loves with all his heart. The scenes between Jack and Reagan are touching and at times bring a tear to the eye. The mystery is also well written and climaxes to an unexpected ending after a very fast-paced ride. This book also shows an ugly side of American life - racial prejudice. The author handles this topic very well and expertly crafts it to be a major theme in the novel. Fade to Heat is a wild ride of the hot kind! I highly recommend this novel to any reader who loves a spicy and sensual romance that has some mystery thrown in for fun. A true pleasure to read! Lookout romance world, Thompson is on her way to the top!
