I must say that I enjoyed In Pursuit of a Proper Husband more than I did A Delightful Folly. We met again, Benedict, Esme and Dorrie and see how they are fairing. But this story is about Noel, Viscount Reversby, Benedictís friend that we met as well in the previous story. We met Meg Grantham for the first time, as she was the best friend of Anneís, Noelís late wife.

Noel has come across some letters between his now-deceased wife Anne and Meg. The letters hint to a secret that the two of them shared. Noel wants to know the secret, no matter what the cost to Meg or anyone else. He can be single-minded in his pursuits when he wants something and doesnít take no for an answer.

Now Meg on the other hand, knows how to say no and how to accept no for an answer even if she doesnít like it. She can be just as determined as anyone man, in fact, she is known as "General Grantham", for her way of quiet resolve when things had to be done for the families when they traveled with their husbands in the military. And how to act when no was not a option. It will take all her grit and strength of wills to go head to head with Noel.

Meg knows right off who Noel is but she canít believe that she is falling for him. The attraction between the two is mutual and Noel doesnít have any qualms about using it to get the secret from her. Meg puts a challenge out for Noel in order for him to know her secret. Can he met and exceed the challenge? Well, the challenge is to find a husband for her niece. A niece that has no coordination and just blurts out whatever is on her mind without thinking. Now set her down at a pianoforte and it is very moving and she plays like a dream. Now only if she can take the same feeling and put it towards her everyday life, it would make it simpler on everyone involved, especially Noel.

The secret is Megís alone and she has lived with it for several years and doesnít plan on sharing it with anyone. But what will happen if Noel solves the challenge that she has given him, will she tell him then? Will her secret keep them apart after he knows?

I enjoyed the sparring between Meg and Noel. There was never a dull moment between the two of them. She would not let him walk over her and she did give back to him just as good as he gave her. Ms. Garland let us know more of Meg and what she was thinking and her past. We also were let to know what Noel was thinking as well. I have to say we did met Dorrie again and she still needed to do some growing up. She still didnít quite understand Benedict and Esme. Iím hoping we get to see more of Meg and Noel in the next story as well. Iím waiting to see how Dorrie matures and if she will find the love of her life.
