Beyond Control starts off by introducing us to several seemingly unrelated people and events, but it doesnít take long for the author to bring these scenes together so we understand the big picture. Journalist Jordan Walker is hired by billionaire Leornard Hamilton to write his biography. Leonard also wants Jordan to investigate his sonís death because he doesnít believe he actually drowned. Lindsay Fleming is trying to use her Capitol Hill connections to help a friend find out information on his missing cousin.
From the moment Jordan and Lindsay first meet, they feel a very strong connection, though neither one is comfortable with it. Soon they are working together to try and figure out the secrets that people are willing to kill to cover up. How are two religious siblings in Florida, a secret research facility in Maryland, a fertility clinic in Connecticut and a billionaireís son all related? Will they be able to figure it out before the killers catch up to them?
This book deals with a type of psychic connection between the characters, and though at times a bit far fetched, the fast pace and interesting characters kept the story from becoming preposterous. There certainly is no shortage of steamy scenes as Jordan and Lindsay learn how to adjust to their psychic connection.
Whether writing werewolves or psychics, Rebecca York does it well. The scenes are short and always changing, keeping the reader immersed in the story. This steamy summer release is a must read for fans of romantic thrillers.
