Even as a child, Christina Joanne (CJ for short) Davis prefers cars and trucks to dolls. As she grows older, recurring bouts of cancer only make her long more for the freedom that cars and trucks can give her. Her job as a truck driver allows her to see the country and to indulge her passion.

When Ethan Tanner, the successful owner of an auto repair chain, loses his wife in a car accident, he never expects to fall in love again. When he and CJ engage in a bidding war for an old car, he begins to realize that love is not something you find; love finds you.

Despite the strong feelings she has for him, CJ cannot give herself to Ethan completely. CJ has seen her life and the lives of her family members change because of illness and with the threat of cancer hanging around her everyday like a dark shadow, she will not inflict herself or her burden upon Ethan.

What will it take for CJ to realize that all Ethan really wants is to love her?

Reon Laudatís Wanna Get To Know Ya is a tender romance with an interesting story line and a mostly enjoyable cast of engaging characters, including the especially likeable elders Gus and Ella. Jacinda was one of the least pleasing characters; her intentions being all too predictable at the beginning of the novel.

CJ and Ethan are one hot couple who definitely donít need jumper cables to get things started. The electricity that surges between these two steams up the pages.

Unfortunately toward the end of the novel, the story seems to lose a grip on its fast pace. The final chapters turn at a stilted tempo with unnecessary scenes and wooden conversations meant to move the reader, yet the actions only seem unnatural.

Somehow despite its flaws, Wanna Get To Know Ya still manages to be a charmingly, touching romance. This reviewer hopes to see a sequel in print soon for CJís sister, Nina.
