Simon Malmain is investigating misuses of power and trying to put the magical and mortal world back into rights when he upsets the wrong person. Somehow he finds himself a unicorn rather than a man. When he becomes caged, it is a shy, mousy girl who frees him.

Meg has not realized how badly she was harmed until she sets Simon free and runs into the night with him. There he begins to untangle the mess that Lord Drayton has turned her into while using her for his own selfish purposes.

Now as the two begin to take on Drayton, they both have evidences of his cruelty to overcome along the way.

This is the follow up in a series by M.J. Putney, having not read any of itís predecessorís I found myself easily able to follow along with the story line and become drawn in by the magical elements as much as the story itself.

As a lover of unicorns, fairies, and similar things, I found the story to be fascinating. Watching as these two become closer and begin to find themselves falling truly in love was an added bonus. I highly recommend picking this story up! I must now go off in search for the other novel in the series.
