Jenny Prillaman has covered for her boss, Sal, before when he has been late or absent from Bellagio Shoes. This time it will be a little tougher because wealthy Brooke Tarantino is coming in for shoe designs for her upcoming wedding. Brooke also happens to be the cousin of Bellagio's executive VP, Marc Waterson. Even without the current pressure, Jenny gets nervous around the hunky Mr. Waterson. Jenny becomes more deeply involved in the whole Brooke nuptial scenario when she discovers Sal is in rehab. Jenny also finds out that Sal has padded her resume a bit, so Marc and others believe she graduated from a well known Atlanta design school. Can Jenny rise to the occasion or will her secret ruin her sudden good fortune?
With a clever title,a lively and fast paced plot, and charming characters, Ms. Banks has another winner of a book to add to her body of work. Jenny is resourceful, but she also grows as a person and gains confidence throughout the story. Female readers can relate to her addiction to treats such as Krispy Kremes. Marc is very much the macho hero at the start who cannot even try to remember poor Jenny's name. He grows and learns to set his priorities, a lesson we can all learn in this busy, pressure filled era. There are well drawn secondary characters who add humor and poignancy to the plot.
The love scenes simply sizzle. Ms. Banks is an expert in weaving them into the story line along with zippy dialogue. Feet First is a must read and pure fun. I will be looking forward to the next book in the Bellagio series, Underfoot .
