Publicist, Micki Jordan, knows who the man for her is, has known since she received a drunken New Years Eve kiss from him. Unfortunately for her, playboy baseball star Damian Fuller doesn’t seem to even know that she exists. Having been a tomboy from the day she and her two sisters were orphaned and turned over to the care of their bachelor sports agent Uncle Yank, Micki is considered “just one of the guys”. She can walk into a baseball locker room and none of the guys think about covering up, cleaning up their language, or drooling over another woman in front of her. Micki Jordan is about to make a life decision that will make Damian stand up and take notice that she’s a woman and not just one of the guys.

Up front, I’m going to let you know that I took this book for review because I though Carly Phillips was someone else. Lucky for me because now I’ve found a new favorite author. While Hot Number is book two in her The Hot Zone series, it does stand alone, though I did go back and read the first story because I’m picky like that. Micki is a character I can completely relate to; the strong, smart, and attractive tomboy who is overlooked by her male acquaintances. Even though she is afraid, Micki takes that step into “girl world” with the help of her sister and catches the eye of the man she wants . . . and some rather unattractive publicity. Damian is a tad overly chivalrous and honorable. However, this is explained by the amount of women in his family. Both main characters are strong willed people who need a bit of help and a lot of pushing to admit their feelings. Well written, fun, active, and romantic, I really enjoyed my time with Micki and Damian and definitely can’t wait to spend time with the last Jordan sister.
