Andrea Rains Waggener’s first book could easily be called a modern day fairytale. Ronnie Tremayne has never been a small girl much to her and her mother’s dismay. Close to 300 pounds and wearing a size 28 makes her stick out in a crowd! At least she has the perfect job working in a plus size boutique or so she thinks until she finds out that she is even upsetting to the clientele, and that her job may be in jeopardy.
What’s a girl to do but rush home to her beloved pet and gorge on anything she can get her hands on? As Ronnie cries herself to sleep that night, she wishes that the world was perfect for people of size. What she could never imagine is that the next morning she will find out that all her dreams have come true.
From cat calls and wolf whistles as she passes construction crews to women telling her they’d die to be her size, the world is nothing like the one Ronnie left the night before. Ronnie finds that more than one man is dying to get her in bed, and that her boss, the shrew, now wants to invest in some of the designs she’s created.
Soon however Ronnie will realize that as many problems exist for the smaller folk as they do for the larger. She’ll have to rely on some of the Oprah wisdom she’s collected over the years and learn to love herself exactly as she is.
I found the premise of this book to be one that will certainly catch the readers attention and have women from all walks of life cheering. On the other hand, I did find that often times during the course of the book some things seemed just a tad too farfetched. However fans of chic lit type novels, especially those of us with less than perfect bodies, will certainly want to take a chance on this new author.
