Carla Neggers’ newest novel Dark Sky continues her popular series revolving around the U.S. Marshal’s service. This novel takes many unexpected twists and turns and leaves the reader breathless with anticipation as the story unfolds. Dark Sky tells the long awaited story of Juliet Longstreet and Ethan Brooker. Both characters have appeared in Neggers previous novels and Dark Sky finally provides some long awaited answers for long time readers.

Juliet is a Deputy US Marshal who has made her share of enemies in the criminals she has arrested. When one of them, Bobby Tatro, gets out of jail and makes it clear that Juliet is on his hit list, Juliet has little choice but to seek help from Ethan in order to find Tatro before he finds her. Ethan has a way of appearing in Juliet’s life at just the right time and usually in a way that is a little spooky. When Ethan approaches Juliet about Bobby Tatro and his connections in Columbia and South American, Juliet wonders if their cases are connected in some way. Soon Ethan reveals to her that he has been asked by the President to rescue a U.S. hostage that is being held in South America quietly and quickly and that this hostage just happens to be a neighbor of Ethan’s. The hostage Hamilton Johnson Carhill is the son of a billionaire with a sense of adventure but not too much common sense. This has apparently led him into a major amount of trouble with a vigilante group in South America. Ethan and Juliet must work together to find Bobby Tatro and uncover the reasons that Hamilton Carhill was kidnapped before it is too late for both Juliet and Hamilton.

This book is a fast paced, action packed read that readers won’t be able to put down! I loved it. The passion and romance sprinkled through out the book gives readers a glimpse into the hearts of Juliet and Ethan as well as surprise love story that readers won’t expect! And no I am not telling who falls in love with whom, but trust me you will not want to miss this one! I have read all of Neggers’ books and they just keep getting better and better and Dark Sky is no exception. Filled with unexpected moments of terror, love, and regret this is a moving story that will keep readers enthralled until the very end.
