Miranda Lane is staying in a friendís condo for three weeks while trying to finish her latest romance novel. Sheís dismayed when her editor wants a few changes; a new hero, new career, new location and more sex scenes. Miranda specializes in beta males Ė the more sensitive man - and hasnít the slightest idea how to write about a man who is not only an alpha, but a cop as well Ė a profession she has no love for.
Detective Chas Casey, who just so happens to be a sexy cop, meets Miranda after she blows him and three of his co-workers away during a game of paintball. Impressed not only by her skill, but by her prickly attitude and sexy southern drawl, he canít resist the desire to get to know her better. When she admits to needing a role model for her latest romance, heís intrigued enough to help her out.
Despite the cutesy cover on this book, itís not a light, fluffy romance. Both Miranda and Chas have personal issues with which they have to deal. And I very much appreciated two such straight forward and out spoken characters. Thatís not to say there arenít plenty of scenes that will make you smile, and perhaps even laugh. Miranda uses her innate writerís curiosity to learn more about Chas, while he uses a copís keen eye to study her body language and responses.
After this delightful debut, I have no doubt this will be an author we will hear from again and again. And if we are very lucky maybe Chasí sexy brother Joe will get his own book.
