Lucius White is the oldest living vampire in the world. Lucius has become disassociated with the world and his friends fear that he may be considering putting an end to his life. But this all changes after he gets the opportunity to take on the identity of Lucas Delavert and live for a while as a human. Upon meeting a resident of his new holding Lucius is becoming more and more alive as well as entranced by this charming creature.

Theodora “Theo” Becket has found it necessary to sell her embroidery work in order to help her family survive, a fact that she has to keep secret to keep shame from her family. With the arrival of Lucas Delavert her mother decides to encourage a romance between Theo’s sister and Lucas. But it is actually Theo who becomes fascinated by Lucas and who Lucas seems to fancy.

Courting Midnight is yet another fabulous story by Emma Holly. Fans of this great author will not be disappointed and I anticipate that those new to Ms. Holly’s work will also become spellbound by her. I have always enjoyed a tortured hero who is then brought back into the light by the woman that entices him back to the world of the living.
