Miss Lucinda Stiles is shocked at what has become of her late guardian’s home since his passing. Not only do the grounds appear to be in desperate need of some loving care, but also the inhabitants of Aldersham seem to be in much the same state as the flora. Well, if Lucy is to spend the next few months at Aldersham fulfilling the terms of her late father’s will then things will have to improve. And Lucy is just the person to see to it if she can convince the irksome Sir Robert Sandifort to go along with her plans.
For Sir Robert, Lucy’s bothersome habit of meddling in affairs that do not concern her will drive him to apoplexy. If the chit weren’t quite so toothsome and soft hearted he wouldn’t be so frustrated. How does one keep one’s reluctantly inherited ward from making a difficult situation even more so? Add to that a stepmother two years his senior intent on seduction and a gentleman is hard put to find some peace in his own home.
This passionately colorful story is filled with vibrant characters whose interactions blossom from a well tended plot. There are no brambles or thorn in this garden so take a stroll through Valerie King’s Garden of Dreams.
