Totally ignoring the dangers of the aftermath of Waterloo, Annabella Jocelyn arrives in Paris to purchase the publishing rights to a scandalous diary written by a notoriously famous femm fatale. Annabella is a businesswoman who knows that a book of this stature and importance is just the thing to get her new publishing company off the ground. All that stands in her way is the bevy of dangerous gentlemen who are determined to bury their transgressions and get rid of Annabella, to boot. And the other obsticle in her way is a brave war hero who is determined to keep her safe from any danger that these gentlemen can administer. But, will he be able to keep her heart safe from danger?

David Falconer, Earl of Dlamar, knows how to fight and win. His need to control and posess the beautiful and composed Annabella is unrelenting and consumes his every waking moment and torments his dreams. Yet, his duty to keep her safe from the hands of dangerous men is growing even stronger. Both desires are proving more perilous at best, for Annabella is a strong willed and stubborn woman who will not accept help from any one, even him!

These two butt heads more than once in this story. Both are very strong willed, proud people, who have their own secrets to hide and reason to not trust anyone. But the passion they find in each others arms is truly remarkable. Readers will find it hard to put this book down. Ms. Thornton is one of the top Queen's of romance. You can never go wrong with one of her books. This is a keeper!
