I love to be able to pick up a book and learn new things about characters I have read before. In Love According to Lily, we get to meet James and Sophia again as well as James best friend, Edward. Lily is James sister, you might remember her having to be rescued by the three of them in Paris. This story is about Lily and Edward.

Lily has loved Edward since she was a little girl. That love has never stopped and she isnít sure what to do about it as Edward still sees her as James' little sister. She wants that to change and with the help of Sophia it might. Lily has a problem of being shy around Edward and with a few hints from Sophia it changes to flirtation.

Edward canít believe that Lily has grown into a beautiful woman and he is just now realizing it. Edward is sick and thinks he is dying from the same thing his father died of. He does have regrets and one of them is not marrying and producing an heir so his cousin Magnus canít have the title, the estate, and everything else that comes with it. Edward canít seem to stop flirting with Lily. He knows that nothing can come of it, but he is still interested in her.

Lily and Edward are both able to see what the other is feeling and they can communicate by just looking into each other eyes. But it takes Edward being on his deathbed and Lilyís proposition to nudge Edward along and admit to liking her more than a sister. Even though he has hurt her she knows that Edward is the only one for her. She doesnít let anyone get in her way and defies her mother. She hasnít always done what her mother wanted and that has caused some heartache between the two of them for years, neither willing to budge on their conflicts.

I really enjoyed Love According to Lily. It pulls at the heartstrings and leaves you cheering for Lily that she can overcome the obstacles in her way of finding true happiness and love with Edward and to help mend some bridges along the way. Edward does have some fears that he must overcome as well and find the love that he has buried for Lily. Ms. MacLean has once again given us a story that we will fall in love with, the characters, settings and even the illness that strikes Edward prove her skill in weaving a beautiful story of love conquering all.
