Rosalind has traveled several miles to the man she is to marry. She is nervous yet anticipates her fate with a positive attitude. She realizes that at her age, she has narrowed down her available options and this seems like a logical conclusion to her status. She also has abilities which frighten many, and make her unique, yet this does not seem to bother her new husband-to-be. When the marriage takes place, she realizes that he did not marry her because of blind emotion, but rather for logic as well. Soon after, she begins to detect strange presences around the castle.
Lucien has been a lost soul at drift since the death of his first wife and love, Francessa, and their child. Though their death remains much a mystery, he has vowed to avenge them when the opportunity presents itself. It is to his great surprise that the one who helps him unravel the mystery is none other than his new bride, Rosalind.
However what danger will await her for her in this quest?
This was a very well written gothic romance. It draws the reader in with unanswered questions and very well depicted characters. Turning pages until the end, one hopes for Rosalind's sake that Lucien will be open to his heart just a bit farther and give her the love that she truly deserves.
