Sydney is not happy about her current circumstances. She doesnít want to be trying to track the funds from her fatherís prior accountant that was there for about thirty years. So Betty Lou embezzled some funds for her retirement as she probably knew she would not get anything from Marv, but that isnít what has Sydney on the next flight to Texas. It is her sister Julia, who is getting married after knowing a guy for only one month.
Sydney is the older sister and always trying to keep Julia from getting hurt. To say she is overprotective is putting it mildly. How many sisters will fly to your side when she thinks you need help or to talk you out of the biggest mistake of your lifetime? Well that is what Sydney does or at least tries to do.
In walks Alex, Romanís best man and best friend, into a scene that well, doesnít put Sydney in the best of light, and Alex takes advantage of it. He whisked her away to met Roman, and to say she didnít look her best would be nice. Alex is really a big lovable, caring guy, and he doesnít let others hurt those he cares about no matter what.
Sydney and Alex are attracted to each other, but things are bumpy and hot along the way to their first date. Sure they went places together on business. Alexís family has an emu farm, and Sydney goes along for the ride. Sydney has a controlling personality; she is pushy and normally gets her way one way or another. Alex is stubborn and holds his own against Sydney. They are both attracted to each other, but neither one of them wants to admit it.
The first date between the two of them takes a while to happen, but when it does, sparks fly and those around them can feel the burn they have for each other. But not everything is as it seems. There are problems that both of them must deal with, and with the help of the other, they might just make it past the problems and on to more than a first date.
First Date by Karen Kendall is the first book in the Bridesmaid Chronicles. It seems there will be a book about each of the bridesmaid that Julia has, and there are three of them. The story will leave you turning the pages to see just what Sydney has up her sleeve next and what trouble she seems to make. She seems to be sort of a walking disaster. The story has laughs as the characters are witty and some sharp tongued, but that isnít everything. Ms. Kendall also gives us a story that has love, patience and caring.
