As a teenager Summer Abrams is almost killed in a warehouse fire that takes the life of her father. Consumed by the guilt of her father’s death Summer leaves town as soon as possible hoping to forget the horrible events that she experienced there. She also left behind her best friend Joe Walker who is secretly in love with her and extremely hurt that she left without so much as a goodbye.

Twelve years later another fire brings Summer back to Ocean Beach, CA and face to face with Joe Walker who is now an arson investigator. Joe had vowed to keep his distance from Summer as she had hurt him terribly when she left without a word. Old feelings prove hard to resist and Joe finds himself once again drawn to Summer, even more so when someone who seems determined to put her family’s lawn furniture business out of business no matter what the cost, places her life in danger in the process.

With a strong believable plot and charismatic lead couple Jill Shalvis has penned another winning tale in Seeing Red, the third in her fireman themed single titles. I have watched this author’s talent blossom from her early days as a category author. She has written a fast paced romantic suspense tale with a little mystery thrown in as to who is starting this series of mysterious fires. Seeing Red is a red hot romance that will have you gloaming Ms. Shalvis’ previous titles in this series, Blue Flame and White Heat as well as perhaps her whole backlist. Seeing Red is a tale not to be missed by an author who’s talent for penning excellent stories has never ceased to amaze me. Jill Shalvis is an author who improves with each new tale she writes. If you like an emotional tale that is hot and steamy and will keep you guessing then pick up a copy of Seeing Red today. You won’t be disappointed!
