Gracie Leeís husband has a car accident that puts him in a coma and leaves her living with her mother-in-law. Those are reasons enough to need a support system that will help relieve some of the emotional pressure Gracie is under at this time in her life. She turns to God for direction. Then a woman at the college bookstore invites Gracie to a meeting at her church. It seems like a Godsend.
While there is never an ideal way to find out your husband has been unfaithful, finding out in a room full of strangers has to be the worst. Gracie Lee Harris had no clue what her first attendance at the Christian Friends would reveal. On top of meeting her husbandís girlfriend, Gracie also learns the woman is pregnant with Dennisí baby. Then the woman wants to go with Gracie Lee to the care center to verify that it is indeed the same man. Gracie agrees and together with her mother-in-law, and stepdaughter, they go to the center. When Gracie steps out of his room for a moment she is called back in to find her husband dead. All four women become suspects. For now, the only thing Gracie knows for sure is that she didnít do it. So who did? Every one of them had a motive. They were all victims of Dennisí con game. Gracie Lee takes it upon herself to find the real killer while at the same time keeping herself from becoming the next victim.
I find the first person narrative to be distracting; nevertheless it is the popular voice in chick lit novels. Gracie is a likeable character but her reactions were not realistic. Also, there was a feeling of detachment in the story. I did like the structure of support Christian Friends provided for Gracie. Donít be expecting a romance when you pick up Love the Sinner. It is the first in the new Gracie Lee Mystery series from Steeple Hill Cafť.
