At the ripe old age of twenty seven, Claudia, Lady Fairfax, has her hands full caring for her stepson, Edward. The last thing the lovely widow needs is Noel Clifford, Lord Hawke, interfering. Her intimidating and infuriating neighbor may share guardianship of Edward, but what does a handsome bachelor such as he know about raising a child? What difference does it make that Edward worships Noel and Claudia? Claudi would die before admitting that she is attracted to Noel's charm. She simply must not let him make himself so much a part of their lives, that she will lose her heart to him.
Ms. Hendrickson brings us another tale of love and shows the will of two strong yet stubborn characters. Claudia and Noel both think they know what’s right for young Edward. But what they find out is that they have more than Edward in common, a love that can carry them through any of life’s changes and challenges, including parenthood.
This is the second story that I have read by Ms. Hendrickson this summer and I am finding myself drawn to the bookstore to find more of her books, as they are truly wonderful and refreshing to read.
