When Bobbie Carlington is hired to work as the housekeeper at the Lazy B Ranch, she doesn’t realize that Chance Bodine has ulterior motives for hiring her. Chance knows that Bobbie is perfect for his brother Clay, and if he throws them together enough, he’s sure there will be an instant attraction. Chance has no idea how right he is.

Though Bobbie is insanely attracted to Clay, she can’t stand his dominating attitude, the way he constantly claims that she belongs to him. Bobbie’s father wasn’t the most caring man and she sees pieces of him in Clay’s attitude towards her. She doesn’t want to get involved, but the attraction grows until neither can resist each other.

Clay is shocked to discover that he has taken Bobbie’s virginity. The only honorable thing to do is to marry her. Bobbie has no plans of falling into line with Clay’s scheme however. It will be up to him to change her mind.

This is an incredibly erotic story! Ms. Casper has a real gift for writing sensual romances with lots of heart and feeling, and California Cowboy is no different. Clay has to learn that sometimes, force doesn’t get you what you want; sometimes it takes respect and love. When Clay understands this, he goes from a dominating alpha male into a man any woman would be proud to call her own.

Bobbie is also a character to be admired because she sticks to her guns, and no amount of prodding or coercion from Clay is going to get her to change her mind. I am particularly happy to see that she didn’t become wishy-washy in the story, changing her character just to suit Clay. Ms. Casper has created a very strong and identifiable heroine in Bobbie Carlington.

All in all, this is a very satisfying read and I look forward to Chance’s story. This western style romance won’t disappoint.
